Preaching Station: Wellandport, Ontario

Written by
It is with gratitude to God that the Consistory of the Vineland Free Reformed Church wishes to inform you that a Preaching Station has been established in the Fenwick, Ontario area with the first service held on March 25.For the time being, the worship services will be in the gym of the Wellandport Christian School, in the town of Wellandport, Ontario.

The times of the worship services are the same as for our Vineland Church: 9:45 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. with the preaching station adjusting the afternoon time to 6:30 p.m. as needed. Approximately 160 people are attending the preaching station.

In 1996, it already became obvious to us that within 5 years, under the continued blessings of the Lord, our present facilities would be inadequate. Since that time the Consistory has made considerable work of determining whether it is better to expand our church building or to eventually begin a second church in the area. There are good reasons for either option and the Lord can and does bless both large and small congregations. In the Sring of the year 2000 the Consistory decided to pursue the option of establishing a preaching station in the beginning of 2001 and accordingly informed the congregation. The intent is that this preaching station be considered a test of the commitment within the congregation towards eventually establishing a second congregation and church.

In dependence on God it is our hope that we may petition Synod 2002 to institute a new Free Reformed Church. In the meantime we hope to continue to function as one congregation, with one Consistory and for now attend and maintain the same societies and committees.

We ask that you with us remember this work before the Lord in prayer so that He would guide it and prosper it to the glory of His name, the well-being of the Church, and for the furtherance of His Kingdom.
