From the Mission's Treasurer

Written by Peter Luth
The Foreign Missions Committee is very thankful for the financial support received during 2003--thankful, first of all to the Lord, but thankful also to the churches. As can be seen in the reports below, income has exceeded budgeted expectations by a significant amount. This makes up for the shortfall we had last year and puts the mission in a comfortable financial position.

For the coming year there is an exciting development. As was announced in the church bulletins already, Rev. Herfst has been called to teach in Guatemala. Should that become a reality, he will be placed under the umbrella of the Foreign Mission Committee for oversight and financing. This will raise the budget requirements considerably, especially in 2005. Some may well ask if we are able to carry this extra responsibility; and that is a legitimate question, since we are a rather small denomination. But to that question, as treasurer, I would give a resounding YES. Throughout the years we have always believed and have witnessed that this work in Cubulco is GodÕs work and He now again is laying an opportunity on our path. As was evident this past year, if the members of the church have a heart for the work then the support will also be there, and so we will go forward in trust and in faith, eager to see how the Lord will use us to accomplish His purposes.
