Black Sea Holds Clues to Biblical-Era Flood

Written by Rev. H.A. Bergsma
Archaeologists have found evidence that appears to support a catastrophic flood struck the Black Sea region more than 7,000 years ago, turning its waters saline, reports the International Herald Tribune. In their first scientific report, the expedition leaders said that a sonar survey, in the sea off the northern coast of Turkey, revealed the first distinct traces of the pre-flood shoreline, now about 500 feet under water. At one site the sonar detected more than 30 stone blocks on a sloping bottom, and remote-controlled cameras revealed pieces of wood and other objects that could possibly be ceramics. The blocks did not appear to be part of a natural geological formation. An expedition of scientists reported in the October 1 issue of the American Journal of Archaeology that analyses of core samples indicate the site was once occupied by people. Clearly the expedition has found a subaquatic landscape with materials that belong to the period before the inundation, said Bruce Hitchner, an archaeologist and editor of the Journal. "They have confirmed an important element of the flood theory, quite convincingly I think," he added. (From Crosswalk)

We who believe the Word of God, knew this all along. We do not speak merely of a Òflood-theoryÓ but of a Òflood-fact.Ó Although we do not need further proof of this fact, it is gratifying that scientific evidence confirms the truths of the Bible.
