Gospel To Palestinians Curbed

Written by Rev. H.A. Bergsma
Palestinian authorities have forbidden Christians to do mission work among Palestinian people. The Palestinian Minister of Justice declared that the authorities have adopted a 1936 British law, which forbids mission work. As a result, a certain Muhammed Bakr from the village of Kiri, was recently arrested by the authorities after openly speaking of his faith and seen distributing Bibles in and around the city of Nablus. Apparently, Bakr was converted from the Muslim faith six years ago. The reason given for his arrest is that he had sold some property to the Jews. Bakr has signed a statement that indeed he had sold some property to the Jews, but several Christian friends and Palestinian human-rights activist Bassam Fid claim that Bakr was forced to sign the statement after some serious mistreatment.
