Greek Evangelical Church Debates Baptism

Written by Rev. H.A. Bergsma
By a narrow margin, the synod of the Greek Evangelical Church (GEC) decided that converts would not be permitted to be rebaptized. Some converts consider their infant baptism insufficient. (Sound familiar?) However, the church supported its confession of faith, saying that it excluded Anabaptism (re-baptism). Some delegates argued that this single issue should not compel brothers and sisters to leave the church (From REC News Exchange)

Some of us have had contacts with members of the GEC who immigrated and studied in the U.S. For some, infant baptism was a controversial subject. We therefore thankfully say, Ògood for the GECÓ for speaking up against despising oneÕs baptism at infancy!
